This program can be used to calculate the approximate density of a foam. There are a number of assumptions used which have to be discussed to understand the limit of this calculation. In this calculation it is assumed that all the blowing agent evaporates. It is also assumed that the water either reacts completely with the isocyanate or it evaporates completely. These are optimum efficiencies which are normally not realized. We also assumed that the foam can completely expand and is not compressed. A more practical assumptions is an efficiency of approximately 70 % of the blowing agent. The formulation permits to adjust the efficiency of the blowing agent.
The calculation can be used to estimate the formulation and after trial the parameters can be adjusted for a formulation.
